Why using crash data is important

Why using crash data is important

Crash data is an important tool that helps you understand significant road safety issues in your local government area (LGA). It enables you to adopt a Safe System approach and can be used as evidence to support new safety measures such as improving the road environment, purchasing safer vehicles and improving community education.

Using crash data effectively is crucial in developing a strategic road safety plan. You can analyse patterns in crash types, road features, vehicle factors (including size, mass, age and safety features), local environmental conditions and driver factors.

Consider comparing data with other LGAs to solve similar safety issues.
