LGRSP funding information can be found in the LGRSP Guidelines. While LGRSP for local council Road Safety Officers focuses on the behavioural element of Safe System, local council projects that are submitted for part-funding or separate to the program need to consider how all components of the Safe System interact.
Appropriate work under LGRSP may include:
- Data analysis
- Supporting applications for other road safety grants and programs (for example a 40km/h high pedestrian activity area)
- Supporting the development of council applications for the NSW Safer Roads Program funding
- Supporting local speed enforcement as part of a broader project.
Road safety infrastructure including but not limited to signposting and line marking, road construction, guardrail, pedestrian fencing, school crossings is funded by the NSW Safer Roads Program and the Australian Government Black Spot Program. Engineering works aren’t funded from the LGRSP.
Grant applications can be considered with other funding sources when a project is established from road safety priorities in your community. These priorities may be drawn from data and Safe System assessments to form an evidence base to support your road safety and infrastructure projects.
Community Road Safety Grants help community groups across NSW to develop small-scale, local projects. These projects increase road safety awareness in local communities and promote safer behaviours on our roads.
If you're a community-based organisation or charity/not-for-profit organisation in NSW you may be eligible to apply. Align your project with the 2026 Road Safety Action Plan and Safe System approach to help your application - make use of the information on this Hub.
