Demerit points program rewards good driver behaviour

The Government will introduce legislation to support the permanent Demerit Point Reward Program in early 2026.

So far, more than 1.7 million people have been rewarded for safe driving during the Demerit Point Reward Trial. 

We will now identify those eligible for the deduction of a demerit point in the final phase of the trial. Those customers can expect to see a point being returned from April 2026. The processing period is expected to take approximately six months to complete.
