We've launched a powerful new website that shares raw, honest accounts from people affected by road trauma – whether through serious injury or the devastating loss of a loved one.
Beyond the crash: Real life stories shines a light on the real people behind road crash statistics, reminding us that every number represents a person and a life that matters.
This initiative aims to be a meaningful resource that encourages all of us to reflect on the importance of road safety and how everyday choices on the road can change lives - whether it’s your own, someone you love, or a complete stranger whose world could be turned upside down in a moment.
The public site features a story wall and interactive map, allowing you to explore real stories by NSW suburb, road user and crash type. You can also submit your own personal story or leave supportive comments for others. All submissions are reviewed by Transport for NSW moderators to make sure they reflect the purpose of the site and meet community guidelines.
Please share the site with your family, friends, colleagues and community. Encourage them to read and reflect on the stories - and share their own if they’ve been affected by road trauma.
This project has been developed in partnership between Transport for NSW and State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA).
