Aboriginal road safety

Aboriginal people are twice as likely to be killed on NSW roads as non-Aboriginal people and are four times more likely to be involved in crashes on country roads. We work closely with Aboriginal communities to promote programs and initiatives under the 2026 Road Safety Action Plan.

Aboriginal serpent artwork

The Bring the Mob home safely message is used in our campaigns and communications to Aboriginal communities.

The Aboriginal serpent motif supports the message as an important visual element representing transport for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and NSW communities. It’s used as a way of connecting the different journeys that Aboriginal people are on with Transport’s focus on safe travel.
