Did you know that two-thirds of fatalities on NSW roads happen on country roads?
Rural Road Safety Month is a national awareness campaign run by the Australian Road Safety Foundation to target rural and regional road safety.
The community-based road safety initiative now enters its 7th year. The initiative highlights additional risks faced when travelling on country roads including different road conditions, high speeds, weather and wildlife. It encourages everyone to take personal responsibility and action to reduce trauma on rural roads.
This year we’re also supporting NRMA’s Rural Road Safety month campaign that encourages all drivers to keep safe on our country roads. By sharing wisdom imparted by respected Elders, the campaign helps drivers be more aware of their surroundings and the unique challenges often encountered on regional roads.
